Ari and Amber 2-Day

It's the freakin' weekend!

I have never been so happy for a Friday night in my whole life. Work was a bear this week and shows no signs of letting up before my next big project is completed in early May.

Not to mention the fact that I have just been EXHAUSTED this week. So tired, in fact, that I have learned if I hit the snooze button on my new alarm clock too many times, the damn thing just turns itself off. Great. Guess who nearly had a heart attack this morning when she leisurely rolled over to see the alarm clock blinking 7:35?

Anyway, it should be a good weekend. Going down to NJ tomorrow for a friend's baby shower (won't mention who, just in case it is a surprise - but I am sure that it isn't). Should be fun.

Driving back to NY tomorrow night and helping my parents pack on Sunday. They are moving next weekend and haven't really packed anything yet, so I am sure they can use my assistance.

Next weekend, Ari's mom is coming to visit and we have been thinking about some fun things to do while she is here. Breakfast at this nearby farm on Sunday morning, maybe a trip to Vermont on Saturday if it's nice out. Plus we'll be able to give her the gift that we picked up for her in CA.

So, what are your weekend plans?

California dreamin'

I hate the post-vacation letdown - you spend so much time planning, saving, dreaming about your short time away from the worries of "real life" and it's over so quickly. Just one week ago, I was at California Adventure (probably riding the Tower of Terror for the second time that day) and now I am here, in frigid NY, watching a Southern California car chase on TV (thinking to myself, "wow, I was there!").

Anyway, I think that hubby and I have the cure for those vacation blues - a Disney Vacation Club membership! We first started talking about it after our last trip in December 2004, our interest was heightened when our realtor told us all about his great experience with it, and we made an effort to stop by the DVC booth at Disneyland - we may be hooked!

Granted, I know that it's a timeshare and we could probably buy a (non-Disney) one for cheap, but what is more magical than staying at a gorgeous Disney resort? Not only that, you don't have to go to Disney every year - you can also stay at lots of really nice hotels around the country. And I believe the guy when he says that it pays for itself in 4 vacations - not to mention the fact that we could always give our points to family members the years we won't use them. And how great would it be when we have kids? Love the idea!

Does anyone own a DVC membership? Give me the scoop!

Remember me?

Yeah. Sorry I have been MIA - no real excuse, other than the fact that I have been busy at work, busy watching TV and busy reading PerezHilton.com for the latest gossip.

So anyway, I am too busy to blog from the comfort of home, but put me on vacation in CA and I have lots to say. Yes, hubby and I are here in the Golden State with the whole family. Spending the first couple of days visiting relatives before we take up camp at Disneyland for 3 days and Knotts for a day.

Ready for a brief recap?

* Left our house Saturday AM at 4:00 to make our flight. Which meant we had to get up around 3:15. Damn, do you even understand how early that it is?

* Had a brief layover in Detroit, from about 8:30-9:00 AM. Just enough time for my brother to buy two chili-cheese burritos from Taco Bell to eat while sitting next to me on the plane. Ugh.

* What is up with the highways out here? No, not the traffic (I really don't think that it is any worse than NJ), but the endless construction and vague signs. We have gotten lost going everywhere this week. I think that my poor Dad, who has been driving us around, is on the verge of a nervous breakdown.

* Isn't Southern California supposed to be warm and sunny? Nope, not this week. Sunny - yes, warm - no. Saturday night was a record low here, 12 degrees below the record set back in the 60s. It also snowed in parts of CA that haven't seen snow in years. And not just a dusting, I am talking inches. Did I mention that I only brought sandals to wear? And that it was in the 60s in NY over the weekend?

* Visited family down in the desert yesterday (and don't get me started on how the desert should be hot, not frigid). Overall it was pretty fun, but also goes to show that every family has a crazy one in the mix, one that makes you question your own genetics and keep your fingers crossed that your aunt was a product of her environment, and that there is not some recessive "Crazy Gene" that will show up in your children someday.

* I am starting to feel like a damn cow. It's not that I have been eating too much (I really haven't), but there are only so many cheeseburgers and enchiladas one can eat before you begin craving a damn salad.

* Oh, and by the way, we ate at In-n-Out Burger yesterday. No offense, but what's the big deal? I think that I can get a comparable cheeseburger at Red Robin or a NJ diner, but that's just me.

Okay, have to get ready to start our day. I'll check in during the week.
