Ouch, ouch, ouch!

My neck is killing me.

Just may have something to do with the fact that I was thisclose to spending 12 hours at work today, frantically trying to take care of things that needed to get done before my vacation day tomorrow.

One freakin' day, which I will be spending at the doctor, the insurance agent and the DMV (it's about time that I get my license switched over to NY).

I just want to crawl into bed and pull the covers over my head.

Need a tic-tac?

Random post ahead:

* Have you ever worked with someone who just has s**t breath, plain and simple? Not the "oh, I had onions for lunch" type of breath, but the "oh, I forgot to brush my teeth this morning" breath? And it's not a once-in-awhile thing - it's constant. Ick. I worked at a company once where I had a colleague who had the worst. breath. ever. Every day. After awhile, I couldn't help but wonder why her significant other never said anything to her. It couldn't be enjoyable to live like that. Thank God for Breath Savers and Tic-Tacs!

* Don't you hate it when people ask, "hot enough out there for ya?" Actually, I like 90+ degree weather, especially when paired with opressive humidity, thank you very much.

* Is there anything more annoying than being away from home on a business trip and getting stuck in the crappiest room in the hotel? You know, the one next to the elevator and/or ice machine, in the area of the hotel undergoing renovations? Bleh.

* I still have no idea what to make for dinner tonight.

Weekend recap

Is it just me, or does it feel like time moves so much faster on Saturdays and Sundays? Our weekend flew by, but it was great.

Saturday - Spent the morning at the mall shopping for presents, as the next seven days are what I lovingly refer to as "Birthday Week" - hubby, mom, dad and my brother all have birthdays between July 11-17. Picked up some rockin' gifts - especially for hubby. He is going to be sooo surprised!

Was home by noon and we spent the afternoon in the pool - swimming and lounging in the sun. It was nice.

Later that afternoon, hubby offered to take me up to Lake George - just spur-of-the-moment (I love him so much). We played mini golf - where not only did I beat hubby by seven strokes, but I also got two hole-in-ones. Awesome. We spent about an hour walking around the lake and got a snack before driving home. It was great, almost like a date.

Sunday - Spent the late morning/early afternoon roasting in the sun at a friend's daughter's birthday party before coming home and spending the rest of the afternoon in the pool. Dinner at Nana's and that was about it.

What did you do this weekend?

Writer's block...

I have started about 4 posts in the past 10 minutes and scrapped each and every one of them - cause quite honestly, they were even boring me (and this is my life, people).

So, here's what's on my mind right now:

1. Stories about dogs make me cry. Hubby and I watched "Eight Below" earlier this week - good movie, but oh my God, the ending was so sad. Good Lord, I was sobbing. Just pathetic.

2. I am coming up on another one of those "make or break" times at work. Saying that I am nervous about it is an understatement. I will be breathing much more easily after next Friday.

3. Had an awesome weekend - we had a full house Saturday through Tuesday and spent our days swimming, laughing and just catching up. It was fantastic.

4. Pretty slow week in the world of celebrity gossip, but there have been some juicy tidbits. Jen and Vince - supposedly, they got engaged in Paris (just like Tom & Katie, but we won't go there). Hilary Swank accusing (ex) hubby Chad Lowe of substance abuse - how nice of her to air their dirty laundry like that - seriously. Star getting fired from The View - I don't even watch the show, but her corporate-sponsored wedding made me a little ill - I am sure that it had to be warranted. And speaking of Tom & Katie - 3 months since the birth of Suri and not a photo anywhere. Something seems a little strange to me...

5. Smile of the day: My mom sent me an email, letting me know that she is going to start wearing her glasses more. She packs a lunch for my dad every day - imagine his surprise when he opened up his lunch bag yesterday and instead of a can of soda, he found a can of beer.

Hope that everyone is having a good week.

Ew, ew, ewwww!

Over the past 24 hours, hubby and I have had more than our fair share of creepy crawlers.

Last night, hubby was doing some pool maintenance when he opened the filter and was greeted with a half-dozen frogs. Now, frogs don't really freak me out (my brother and I used to catch them in our backyard when we were little), but I learned that Ari is really squeamish when it comes to the little buggers. It took him 45 minutes (and a pair of grill tongs) to get them out of the filter. (Not to worry, no frogs were harmed in the process).

Of course, according to Ari, these were not your ordinary frogs. Instead, they were "killer African frogs, here in North America." When I asked him how they got here, he simply replied, "airplane."

And this morning, I was cleaning out some of the foliage in our front yard when I saw him. A snake. A freaking SNAKE, people. On my front step. Just slithering around all snake-like. Ew. What the hell? We live in upstate NY, not Florida. I don't really think that our climate is condusive to snakes, but this little guy begs to differ. Obviously.

Gross.
