One year...

One year (and one day) ago, hubby and I officially moved into our home here in NY. Well, that's not entirely true... hubby moved into our home while I was away on business.

So many things have happened over the past year. We have settled into a new home and new jobs. We have made new friends (and many old ones have come to visit as well). We have celebrated holidays here, taken the dogs on countless walks around the neighborhood, and gone swimming way too many times (love the inground pool!).

It's truly starting to feel like home here, and with McNugget's impending arrival, I am sure that our home will be filled with even more love, laughter and good times in the years ahead.

Things I will never, ever say to a pregnant woman...

... even if they accurately reflect my pregnancy experience or I believe them to be true...

1. When are you due? (Unless you 100% know for sure that the woman is indeed pregnant)
2. Giving birth was the worst experience of my life; let me tell you about it..,.
3. I only gained 10 pounds during my entire pregnancy.
4. So-and-so (who is always a friend/wife/coworker of someone else you hardly know) had a miscarriage in her fifth month/almost died during labor, etc.
5. Wow, you are really starting to look big.
6. Nothing (while reaching out to touch the woman's belly without permission.)
7. Should you really be working out/drinking that soda/wearing high heels/waxing your eyebrows?
8. You can tell you're pregnant by the way that you are walking.
9. What are you having? (not a bad question, unless it is followed by...)
10. Oh, are you disappointed?

Saturday musings...

* I consistently oversleep during the week, but Saturday rolls around and I am wide awake by 7:00. What is up wih that?

*It is 33 chilly degrees here this morning - we already have the fireplace running. Of course, Buffalo got something like two feet of snow this week, so I really have nothing to complain about.

* The McNugget is continuing to grow. I am at 24.5 weeks as of today - it just feels like the time is going by so fast! We had a couple of bumps in the road early on, but I really can't complain - I feel really good and I actually like being pregnant, even though I am starting to look like I swallowed a soccer ball.

* Speaking of the McNugget, we are kinda stumped on names for a little boy. If we were having a girl, it would be no problem - we already have the perfect name for a little girl. But a boy? Not so much. Hubby and I can't seem to agree. For example, his favorite names include Abercrombie and Arthur. No offense if you or a loved one has that name, but seriously... could those names be any worse? Thank goodness we still have some time.

* Last night, hubby and I went out for dinner at this little Italian place, where I had fantastic eggplant parm - yum!

* Plans for the weekend? Spending the day with hubby today - going to a local craft fair and (maybe) out for lunch. My mom and I are going to MA tomorrow to do some outlet shopping - it' only about an hour away... not too bad. Should be fun.

* Hubby and the pups are sleeping on the couch. I think that I am going to take advantage of this quiet time to sneak downstairs and work out. Have a nice weekend!

Domestic bliss...

Hubby and I had a busy weekend around the house. Because of our efforts:

* the house is spotless (and appropriately decorated for fall)
* the lawn is mowed, hedges trimmed, pool is closed, pool stuff is put away and our mums are out front
* we have 9 containers of homemade applesauce in our freezer (and the house smells terrific!)
* homemade brownies are on the stove

Now we are just relaxing on the couch with the pups (who are exhausted from their long walk) and enjoying our Sunday evening.

How was your weekend?

How rude!

To the woman in the Escalade (on her cell phone, btw) who cut me off on Route 9 this afternoon:

Just because your car is bigger than mine doesn't give you the right to push your way into my lane because you were too impatient to wait in traffic. I am so sure that being a bitch got you to your destination so much faster.

That is all.
