Fight the power!
So, we received our hospital bill today for Harrison's birth. Imagine our surprise when we saw that it was over three thousand dollars. That has to be a mistake on the part of our health care provider, right?
Wrong. Turns out, our insurance company (which shall remain nameless... for now) does not cover private room hospital stays. Our hospital only has private rooms in their maternity ward. What was I supposed to do, request a roommate? Deliver the baby in the hallway or the waiting room? Sleep outside in the car?
My doctor - who only delivers at Saratoga Hospital - is in our network, so this should not be an issue. But it is. Hubby has already filed an appeal, so we will see what happens, but the customer service rep told us that if we don't win the appeal, we will have to retain a lawyer and attempt legal action. Ridiculous.
Any advice out there?
