Showing my age.
Each year, my company hosts this big publicity event that I am responsible for - it is a huge weight on my shoulders and I spend the entire month beforehand being all stressed out.
Anyway... for 2007, the program will be honoring the inventors of a product developed 35 years ago that has become an important part of our everyday lives. I held a meeting this afternoon to review the event with our executive team - our Chairman & CEO, Chief Sales & Marketing Officer, and Senior Vice President of Marketing were all in attendance.
So, I am talking about the slideshow that will be running during the breakfast, which is going to contain photographs from 1972 through today. In my discussion, I made the mistake of calling the older photos "old fashioned." The Chairman & CEO of the company smirked and said, "Yes, 1972 was so long ago!" The Senior Vice President of Marketing chimes in, "Yeah, and I think that she was looking at me when she said 'old fashioned'!" And our Chief Sales and Marketing Officer said, "Yeah, well she probably wasn't even born in 1972!" (I wasn't, but I wasn't going to admit it!)
Thankfully, I was able to get back to business by explaining that in terms of this technology, 1972 was a lifetime ago. But I was so embarrassed!
I am sure that I will get teased about this for a long time...
