Celebrity randomness...

Lots of exciting celebrity news...

1. Okay, so I know that it is already yesterday's news, but WTF is up with Britney and Lindsay? How many ridiculous decisions can you possibly make? Now, everyone is blaming Lindsay's dysfunctional family for her issues, but come on - you eventually need to start taking responsibility for your own actions. And Britney? She had everything going for her, and now she is just a mess. Part of me feels bad for them (but just a small part...)

2. Also under the heading of "last week's news"... Drew Carey was named host of The Price is Right. Eh. I LOVE The Price is Right, but I just don't think that it will be the same without Bob Barker.

3. Posh and Becks got a warm welcome to America with a party in their honor, hosted by TomKat and Will and Jada. There was an article on MSN that got into all of the gory details of Tom Cruise busting a move on the dance floor, re-enacting his "Risky Business" dance sequence (break-dance splits and all) to Bob Seger's "Old Time Rock-n-Roll." Best quote ever: "What is this, his bar mitzvah?"

4. Star Jones finally admitted that she had gastric bypass surgery. Shocker.

5. Nicole Richie is pregnant. Double shocker. Will it be a boy or a girl? Let's discuss.

Smile!

(The only picture of Harrison that was taken today.)

I am the first to admit that I am addicted to documenting every minute of Harrison's life in pictures. (Can you blame me? The kid is cute!)

Anyway... when he was born, we received a million coupons for different photo places. I have been taking him to get his picture taken each month - not only can I get professional photos for a great price and see him grow month-by-month, but I can also figure out the places that I really like, and the ones that I will skip in the future.

So, Hubby and I took the little one to have his five-month photo taken today. I called the photo place last week and made an appointment for 12:30 pm.

Now, knowing how busy these places get, we decided to get there a few minutes early, so we would be ready for our appointment. So, we get to the store (which shall remain nameless, but may rhyme with "Smallmart") and there are already two couples waiting ahead of us. We're standing there for a few minutes, and I said to Hubby, "Wow, tne studio looks pretty dark."

Yeah, that was because nobody was there. The place opened at 12:00 and as of 12:20, there were no employees in the portrait studio. So, we find a manager, who proceeds to call the studio manager and the district manager (unfortunately, since it is a leased department, there is not much else that he could do). Both the store manager and the district manager said that some guy named "Richard" was supposed to be there, and someone would make it to the studio within 15 minutes.

By 1:30, there was still no sign of any portrait studio employees, so we went home.

Now I have to make another appointment (at a different place, of course) and go through the whold process all over again.

Just want to send a big thank you out to "Richard." Thanks for not bothering to show up at your job, and for wasting an hour of our time on the weekend. With both of us working, weekends are very important to us and we want to make the most of every minute. Ugh.

(P.S. - Hubby called the company that owns the portrait studio today, and they are having the district manager call him back tomorrow. We'll keep you posted...)

Hello.

Remember me?

Things have been really busy around here lately, and I am exhausted.

First things first... for an update on our life with Baby H, check out our family Web site. Hubby did an awesome job with it, so please check it out (and be sure to shower Hubby with praise, okay?)

Between work and home and everything else, there has been a lot on my mind - but I have been way too tired to communicate coherently. And I feel like I don't have anything all that interesting to say - writer's block, I guess.

I'll be back with something worthwhile soon - I promise. In the meantime, some topics for discussion:

1. Who is yuor favorite celebrity train-wreck to read about: Lindsay or Britney? Why?
2. Has anyone out there ever taught their baby sign language? If so, when did you start? Any good suggestions on resources to check out?
3. Am I the only person out there who is not interested in Harry Potter whatsoever?

Working for the Weekend

This week has flown by! Work has been crazy, Baby H had TWO teeth come in this week, the spaniel sprained his leg, and I have had to wake up at 3:00 a.m. to pump enough milk for my hungry little man.

Anyway... I am so excited for this weekend. Some good friends have a family reunion in the area, so they are coming to visit with their two little boys. And on Saturday afternoon, we are taking the little guy to the Empire State Plaza to see the Lemonheads... his first concert! I am sure that he is going to love it!

Does anyone have good weekend plans?

Working from home: random thoughts

I have always been a fan of Judge Judy, but I think that I like The People's Court more...

So many court shows, so little time.

Wishful thinking...

When Baby H was born, hubby and I decided that we needed to win the lottery. I had 12 weeks of maternity leave, which gave us 24 times to play Mega Millions before having to go back to work.

Obviously, we never won. But we still play, and we still dream about what we would do if we won the lottery. Here's my wish list, in no particular order:

1. Quit my full-time job: even though I love my job, there is nothing that I would rather do than stay at home with Baby H. But I would still want to do something - maybe I would freelance at my current company, or work part-time at the little one's daycare. A slower pace of life would be nice.

2. Pay off all of our bills: including the house. We wouldn't move (we really like it here), but we would redo the kitchen, get the walls painted, install new carpet in the family room and hire a housekeeper (or buy the hubby a Roomba).

3. Share the wealth: pay off my parents' mortgage, my brother's mortgage, and put together a nice trust fund for my nephews.

4. Vacation: buy a Disney Vacation Club timeshare, and spend a nice relaxing week away with hubby and the baby. Or buy an RV and take the baby and the pups on a cross-country trip.

5. Go shopping: Mommy needs a new wardrobe!

So... what would you do?

And many more...

Today is hubby's birthday!

And in his honor, 7-Eleven is giving away free Slurpees! (Okay, maybe they aren't actually giving away free Slurpees for his birthday, but they should.)

Anyway, go wish him a happy one!

Back on track.

Baby H will be five months old tomorrow. And while "I just had a baby" still works as an excuse for not fitting into my pre-pregnany clothes, it won't for long. Nine months up, nine months down... right?

So, the clock is ticking - I need to get my butt into gear. I have 10-11 pounds to lose to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight, and would like to lose another 10 pounds or so beyond that.

While I have been watching what I eat and doing some exercise since about 8 weeks post-partum, it's time to take my efforts to the next level.

First, I will continue tracking my diet with Weight Watchers. I tend to get into a food rut at times, so I went to the grocery store and got all sorts of good (and good-for-you) stuff to eat over the next week. Will make it easier to stay on track with my food intake.

Next, it's time to start running again. I used to run regularly, but stopped when work/life/pregnancy got in the way. Since I need to build up my endurance, I started following the Couch to 5K program. In 2 months, I will be back to running regularly - which I am very excited about. If all goes well, hubby and I may even buy a jogging stroller for Baby H.

Losing weight isn't easy. Honestly, it sucks. But it's important to remember all of the good reasons for staying committed - fitting into my extensive wardrobe of cute clothes again, being a good role model for my child, and being healthy for when we start thinking about a brother or sister for Baby H.

Wish me luck!

Let's be independent... together.

Wishing everyone a safe and happy Independence Day!

Rainy weather and cancelled fireworks here in upstate NY, but we still managed to make the best of it - shopping and hot chocolate this morning, plenty of quality time with Baby H, and a barbecue at our neighbor's house.

(Patriotic baby.)

Not a creature was stirring...

It's 6:00 in the morning, and I am just enjoying some "alone time" before the family wakes up. The pups are on the couch, hubby is in bed, and Harrison is sleeping in his crib. Ah, peace and quiet.

So, I have been having a bit of writer's block lately - just not much to say. Work has been busy, as always. My mother-in-law is visiting, so things are hectic on the homefront this weekend as well. We went to Lake George yesterday - walked around town, had pizza for lunch, then took a trip on a steamboat (the Minnie-Ha-Ha) - Harrison's first boat ride!

Things have been going great with Harrison. He has been such a champ at daycare - he ate 14.5 ounces on Friday (a major change from his early days, where he only ate about 3 ounces a day). According to his teachers, Harrison is the most social baby in the class... always smiling and laughing.

He has been such a joy at home as well. He rolls over like a champ, and loves spending time in his Exersaucer. He has been in the pool a handful of times already, and is even starting to enjoy his bath.

Speaking of the little one, I hear him starting to stir - which means he wants to EAT. Before I go, here's one quick picture:
