Boo.

Halloween night at our house:

1. Baby H is sleeping in his swing after a busy day. He had a parade at daycare in the morning, then we went trick-or-treating at Nana's and Great-Grandpa's houses. Grandma and Grandpa came for a visit, we did some more trick-or-treating at our neighbor's house, and took lots of pictures. He's spent, poor thing.

2. Hubby is outside on the porch, handing out candy. We anticipate going through about 200 pieces this year.

3. Dogs are inside with me, absolutely freaking out. Halloween is definitely not their favorite holiday.

I have tons of pictures of the baby in his Halloween costume (he was a pumpkin this year, of course) - but I still need to upload them. In the meantime, here's a shot of him in his Eeyore costume that he wore to the neighborhood parade on Sunday.

Happy Halloween!

(Not cool, Mom. Not cool.)

Yum!

Hubby and I stopped for dessert tonight at some local place that custom mixes ice cream on a marble slab.

My choice? Pumpkin ice cream with chocolate chips. Yummy!

Hubby got chocolate with caramel sauce.

What's your signature ice cream flavor?

Fire drill.

I got home from Chicago last night around 8:30. The event went extremely well, and the trip itself was rather uneventful - which was perfectly fine with me.

Best part about coming home? Seeing the little guy and hubby (and the pooches too, of course). I fed Baby H right when I got home and rocked him to sleep. Hubby and I went to bed around 11:00 and all was quiet.

For awhile.

4:30 - the baby monitor lights up with the sounds of Baby H. I get up, walk into his room, and there he is - looking right up at me. He eats and goes back to bed.

5:00 - baby is in bed, but dogs start barking. Hubby takes one for the team and goes downstairs to let them out. They come back in and go back to bed.

5:30 - the fire alarm goes off! Our fire alarm is part of an entire home security system, so if something is wrong in the house, you know - it is that loud. Hubby and I jump out of bed. He turns off the alarm, while I run into the nursery and pick up the (now screaming) baby. We check all the rooms upstairs, then go downstairs, let the dogs out and check the garage and the basement. No fire, thank God - it seems that the smoke detector in the master bedroom needed cleaning. Needless to say, we never made it back to sleep.

All's well that ends well, I guess - but it really scared me.

Sob.

Tomorrow I leave Hubby and Baby H for my first business trip since my little pumpkin was born. Thank God it is only going to be for one night, but I am still sad and nervous about the whole thing.

Keep your fingers crossed that:

1. Baby H doesn't a)forget about me, b)miss me too much or c)decide to wean himself after not seeing me for 48 hours.

2. Transporting my pumped milk isn't as difficult as it is made out to be.

3. Hubby doesn't have any green bean mishaps or blowout diapers. (Okay, who am I kidding? As long as I pick out the baby's clothes before I leave, everything will be fine - he is Daddy of the Year.)

4. The itty bitty plane taking me to Chicago is mechanically sound.

5. Oh, and my event on Wednesday goes off without a hitch.

Wish me luck!

Showing my age.

Each year, my company hosts this big publicity event that I am responsible for - it is a huge weight on my shoulders and I spend the entire month beforehand being all stressed out.

Anyway... for 2007, the program will be honoring the inventors of a product developed 35 years ago that has become an important part of our everyday lives. I held a meeting this afternoon to review the event with our executive team - our Chairman & CEO, Chief Sales & Marketing Officer, and Senior Vice President of Marketing were all in attendance.

So, I am talking about the slideshow that will be running during the breakfast, which is going to contain photographs from 1972 through today. In my discussion, I made the mistake of calling the older photos "old fashioned." The Chairman & CEO of the company smirked and said, "Yes, 1972 was so long ago!" The Senior Vice President of Marketing chimes in, "Yeah, and I think that she was looking at me when she said 'old fashioned'!" And our Chief Sales and Marketing Officer said, "Yeah, well she probably wasn't even born in 1972!" (I wasn't, but I wasn't going to admit it!)

Thankfully, I was able to get back to business by explaining that in terms of this technology, 1972 was a lifetime ago. But I was so embarrassed!

I am sure that I will get teased about this for a long time...

Hello October.

It has been awhile since my last real post. No real reason for the hiatus, I just haven't had much to talk about. And I have been tired. Ever since our vacation in August, I don't think that I have slept through the night once (but my seven month old manages to do so, go figure...).

Anyway, here's a brief look at what's going on (in bullet formation, of course!):

* Baby H is doing great. He is enjoying his journey into solid foods, but still manages to nurse like a champ. And he has become so active - he is thisclose to crawling, but he scoots around on his tummy by moving his arms - it is adorable! He is starting to babble - he says "ba ba ba" or "ma ma ma" (or "meh meh meh") or "da da da" - and he loves blowing baby spit bubbles (trust me, it's cute!).

* Hubby and I are trying to make the most of our weekends. This past Saturday, we went to a local apple festival; last Saturday was our trip to the farm with the seven-acre corn maze; and we went hiking the Saturday before that. The weather has been beautiful and we are going to keep up our weekend jaunts in the outdoors as long as we can.

* We also took the baby to see his Uncle Bryan's football game up in Glens Falls on Saturday night. Oh my God, it was cold up there! Thankfully, we had the baby all bundled up in a hat, thick socks, and plenty of blankets. But I as in a tee shirt, hoodie and jeans and I was freezing!

* Speaking of weekends, yesterday was my best friend Jenn's bridal shower. I know that I am biased since I helped plan it, but I think that it was one of the nicest showers that I have ever attended. The decorations were pretty, the food was great, the favors were cute (and practical!) and the bride-to-be was the perfect hostess. Now I just need to upload the pics to Snapfish (I'll do it soon, Huxy, I promise!).

* And speaking of showers - what do you think about throwing a mom-to-be a baby shower for a second child? It was a random topic of conversation with my mom and I lately - while I know that it is not "proper" to host a baby shower for a mom who already has a child, I still think that it is a good idea. First of all, baby showers are more than a gift grab - they are a way to celebrate the mom-to-be and her baby. And I usually buy baby gifts for people anyway - even if it is their second or third child - so why not do it in a formal manner? And doesn't every baby deserve new stuff?

* I know that it is only Monday, but I am ready for this week to be over. We will be taking Baby H to a first birthday party on Sunday. He has become quite the party animal - it is the second birthday party he has gone to in three weeks. Thankfully he is a very social baby - he loves to be out and about with other people.

So, enough about me - what's up with you?
